RV Indochine Cruise Overview
 |
|
|
Mekong is the
Indochinese river by excellence, a kind
of hyphen that enters China, Laos,
Cambodia and Vietnam… a large artery
which, runs from the north towards the
south and conveys today, men and goods…
a great transportation route that enters
the high plateaus and the ocean.
The Mekong is a legend….a universe where
water is made the engine of life; the
life, which, precisely emerges from each
dimension, whether it be along the
river, on the river itself or even by
the river. From the temples of Angkor,
jewels of Khmer civilization, to Saigon,
the bubbling economic capital of
Vietnam, our cruising will introduce you
progressively to this world which is so
far and yet so close at the same time.

The construction
This traditional locally built boat started
out as a freighter with a metal hull and a
capacity of 150 tons, with two large but
low-ceiling decks in order to maximize
storage space. Like all ships of this type,
it went up and down the Tonle Sap and
Mekong, stopping at Siem Reap, Kompong Cham,
Kratie and Stung Treng.

Enhanced with Burmese teakwood, the RV
INDOCHINE is being built in a colonial style
reflecting the resplendent eras of
yesteryear. Her refined setting, combined
with the newest technological innovations
will ensure that passengers have the highest
level of comfort and safety available along
the Mekong.
The RV INDOCHINE will feature 22 all outside
facing twin cabins and 2 junior suites,
spread over 2 decks, for a maximum capacity
of only 48 passengers. Her public areas will
include a one sitting restaurant featuring
superb, French influenced cuisine, a Main
Lounge, a Cocktail Bar and a full length
covered sun deck allowing for up close views
of the unspoiled countryside. She will be
serviced by a young and enthusiastic crew of
26 Cambodians and Vietnamese, complemented
by a European Chef and English speaking
Cruise Manager.
Her completion date is set for July 2008 and
her launch date is scheduled for October,
2008.
